Aid Courses
At Safe and Sound Outdoors we are able to offer
a number of First Aid courses to a wide range
of client groups. Whether your needs are for an
HSE Emergency First Aid at Work
(EFAW) or a REC Emergency Level
2 course we have it here.
The types of courses are detailed below.
All courses can be arranged at your venue or
can be delivered at our usual venue in Llangollen,
North Wales. We can also organise any type
of course at you venue. Please contact us for
details.

Course
If you participate in adventurous activities
like Canoeing,
Rock-Climbing
or Mountain
Biking, you owe it to your friends to have
knowledge and practical experience of first aid.
All subjects will be taught with the focus on
wilderness, as opposed to urban, situations:
- Vital Signs
- Emergency action
- Airway Management
- Unconsciousness
- Choking
- Drowning
- Bleeding
- Breathing
- Rescue breathing & CPR
- Shock
- Fractures & Dislocations
- Spinal Injury
- Casualty Handling
- Common Illness
- Problems from heat and cold
We won't make you a paramedic, but you will have
the confidence to act quickly and effectively
in the event of an accident or illness.

- Levels of Courses.
Emergency First Aid at Work (6hr):
Introduced on 1st October 2009 this course is
similar to the old "appointed person"
first aid course and is practical based and non
examinated.

3 Day First Aid at Work:
As from 1st October the First Aid at Work course
has been shortened to 3 days. This course still
complies with HSE regulations. On completion of
the course candidates will receive an HSE recognised
certificate valid for 3 years.
This certificate enables the holder to act as
a first aider under 1981 (First aid) regulations.
It is recommended by HSE that this course is
updated each year with a 3hr refresher. It is
also obligatory that this course is renewed every
three years with a two day refresher.
